The purpose of this information is to welcome you and help you feel comfortable through the service.

At Bethania we have adopted a blend of traditional and modern worship styles while maintaining the liturgical structure of the Lutheran church. If you are a visitor with us, we pray that the service will help you prepare for the week ahead.

As you enter the church, the band and/or singers may be warming up. Please find a seat and make yourself comfortable – there are no special seats allocated within the building.

There is a sound proof  parents’ room, off the foyer, where parents of young families can sit comfortably and still hear and see the service.

The service order will be displayed on the screen at the front of the church.

Lutherans normally sit to sing but stand for specific parts (to respect God) in the service. Any change from this will be indicated by the Pastor. Just follow the lead of those near the front of the church.

A service will typically follow the progression of IntroductionConfession and AbsolutionThe Readings (standing for the Gospel read by Pastor), a children’s presentation/video (followed by activities for the children during the sermon), SermonOfferingPrayers then Holy Communion, the Dismissal and Blessing. These will be interspersed with a number of songs or hymns on the overhead.

The Free Will Offering is a response to God’s blessings. Our members use this to support the work of the Church (local and general) and our Pastor. Please do not feel obligated to contribute as the plate is passed around. We do appreciate your generosity.

Holy Communion (The Lord’s Supper) is a special meal offered to all baptised christians who believe that Jesus died and rose again for their forgiveness and look to Him for Eternal Life. An usher will direct you to the altar rail during the distribution. Do not feel obliged to come forward, however children are welcome to accompany their parents to receive a blessing.

Communion is served to two groups of 5 or 6 people, one group on each side, returning via the side aisles. Individual cups, gluten free wafers and non-alcoholic wine are available on the stand at the front of the church.

Please discuss this with Pastor or one of the Pastoral Assistants if you require more information.

After the service – At the completion of the service announcements and news are highlighted to the congregation followed by a cup of tea/coffee. The Band/Singers will perform a closing song as the congregation leaves the building. Please join us for morning tea so we can get to know you better.

There is a visitors book in the foyer if you would like to leave a comment about your visit.
